Overview

OSMS is an SMS-based information service: you text us a request, we send exactly one automated reply. We collect the minimum needed to do that and nothing more. We do not run advertising, we do not build profiles, and we do not sell data.

Information we collect

When you use the service we process: your phone number, the content of the messages you send us (including any GPS coordinates you include), standard delivery metadata from our SMS provider, and a log of consent events (your first message, opt-outs, opt-ins) which we are required to keep. Message content is retained only briefly for troubleshooting and then deleted; the reply we send you lives in the link itself, not on our servers.

SMS/Text Messaging

When you text +1-877-516-6767, we collect your phone number, the content of your message (including any coordinates or location details you choose to include), and standard message metadata. We use this information solely to generate and deliver the reply you requested and to operate the service (including honoring opt-outs). No mobile information will be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third party, except for service providers acting on our behalf solely to deliver messages (e.g., our SMS delivery provider). Message frequency varies based on your usage; you will receive one automated reply per request you send. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, and get assistance by replying HELP or emailing support@osms.app.

How we use information

Solely to operate the service: parsing your request, fetching the public weather data you asked for, generating the reply link, delivering it, and honoring opt-outs. We use aggregate, non-identifying counts (number of requests served) to operate and improve the service.

Sharing

We share data with no one, with one narrow exception: service providers acting on our behalf solely to deliver messages (our SMS delivery provider) necessarily process phone numbers and message content to transmit SMS. They are not permitted to use it for any other purpose. We disclose information if required by law.

The links we send

The links in our replies encode your requested data in the link itself. Opening one in the OSMS app sends nothing to us or anyone else. Opening one in a web browser requests the decoder page from our website like any normal page load; the decoding still happens entirely on your device, and the page makes no further network requests.

Retention

Phone numbers and consent logs are kept while your number is active with the service, and consent records are retained as required for carrier compliance. Message bodies are retained for at most a short troubleshooting window and then permanently deleted.

Your choices

Reply STOP at any time to opt out — it takes effect immediately. Reply HELP for assistance, or email support@osms.app to ask questions or request deletion of your data.
